Byrd's Boondoggled Book August 12, 2004. West Virginia's senior (very at 86) senator in the U.S. Congress has recently written a book entitled "Losing America: Confronting a Reckless and Arrogant Presidency". If I didn't know who wrote the book I could have sworn it would be another Bill Clinton scandal book. If so, the book could have been written several years ago when sane, well informed people who are not slaves to the Democratic ideology understood how reckless and arrogant Bill Clinton was, how he was an absolute disgrace to the office he held. It's incredible that Robert Byrd's book is about President George W. Bush. I first learned of the book while browsing in a store while on vacation in our great state. I briefly looked at its contents and read about how American values were being destroyed by Bush....can you believe that when you juxtaposition Clinton and Bush? I am no fan of George W. Bush, but believe you me he is light years ahead of the likes of Bill Clinton, Al Gore and John Kerry when we choose to talk about "values". I remember very clearly how Byrd during the Clinton impeachment stated that we (the Senate) could not vote a popular president out of office. "Earth to Byrd...., earth to Byrd, .... YES YOU CAN!" Senator Byrd and others of his ilk should do what is right, not what is popular! Does Byrd not know how a republican form of government is supposed to be executed, or is he just banking on the fact that the majority of voters don't have a clue about the republic? Here's a couple alternate titles for a more accurate book(s):
If you check the records you will find that Robert Byrd gave an eloquent and truthful speech on the Senate floor in the 1962 about America's Christian Heritage and the need to keep prayer in our public schools. He deserves credit for that effort. But now......the man needs to go. This man, like so many in our U.S. Congress is intoxicated with his power and influence. He and many others are so caught up in their self indulgence and lust for maintaining their positions of power that they are slowly but surely choking the life out of the government that is supposed to be "we, the people" .......and that's ..... .........My Biased Opinion Neither One July 3, 2004. A few days ago I received a phone call from a liberal political party. No, it was not from the ultra liberal Democratic party....it was a Republican fund raiser who called. With a Republican man in the White House and a Republican controlled U.S. Congress there is no reason that the party in control cannot do more toward changing from the 40-year liberal rule of the Democrats. Whether you consider wasteful government spending by Congress or basic support of liberal social policies that President Bush could change with the stoke of a pen via executive order, or the pandering to special interest groups like homosexuals and Hispanics, the actions of the Republican controlled U.S. Government is pretty shameful. The Republican party is much like a well used car; at some point it becomes necessary for the automobile to be put on the junk heap because putting new parts on a junker becomes an effort in futility. So it goes in the Republican party, often mistakenly called the conservative party. Wrong! Republicans are only conservative when compared to Democrats. If Republicans are conserving anything it is the 40 year degradation began by the other party. The phone call I received was no doubt from a list of people who are listed in the Republican party. I was asked, "If you were voting for a presidential candidate today, would you vote for John Kerry or President George Bush". The caller was taken back a bit because I could hear dead silence for a few moments after I answered her. My answer was, "Probably neither one." If I vote for someone besides George Bush or John Kerry I absolutely reject the idea that I may help elect Kerry. All of us should vote based upon our well informed convictions. Bush is a good war time president, but I plan to vote based upon a long term goal.....I believe we must reject the idea that the government is our nanny, and that compromising our nation's constitution is wrong and dangerous. Furthermore, my Christian beliefs tell me neither of these men is right for the long term needs of our country..........and that's...... .........My Biased Opinion Going South June 4, 2004. The "united" part of the United States of America is going south; we are no longer the melting pot of people from different parts of the world who come here to become a part of the greatest country in the world. A good share of our problems result from our government's lack of desire to enforce immigration laws concerning those who come here illegally, or overstay their legal visit. Statistics show that a high percentage of illegal immigrants become involved in crimes here in America. Of course we should expect that since they broke laws in order to be here in the first place. Almost 30 percent of all federal prisoners were foreign-born. In Los Angeles about 95 percent of warrants for murder are for illegal immigrants. To add insult to injury, illegals are chowing down at the public hog trough getting all kinds of aid from American taxpaying citizens. They get such perks as free public school (which come to think of it is not a real bonanza), free medical care, and given some privileges we natives don't get. For example, some state colleges are giving illegals a tuition rate that equals that of instate students. For example, an illegal from Mexico living in Virginia might get an instate tuition rate while a West Virginia resident living within commuting distance of the same college would pay a much higher, out-of-state, tuition rate. Sounds crazy, right? We've all heard the sob stories of immigrants just wanting a job to feed their family. We've also heard about jobs U.S. citizens won't take. These type things may have some validity, but that still doesn't change the fact that they are breaking the law when they come here, and statistics show a high percentage have a criminal life style after they get here. This whole thing may seem like a complex problem, but it looks pretty simple to me....we have a lot of power hungry politicians licking the Hispanic boots, the Arab boots, and other foreign boots just to lap up a few more votes so they can stay in power. These politicians from certain town councils all the way up to President George Bush are just seeking votes in preference to maintaining a solid and distinct American culture based upon hard work and honesty....... and that's ....... .........My Biased Opinion Abu Art May 17, 2004. Many have called the incident at Abu Ghraib prison with U.S. military prison guards and Iraqi prisoners a scandal, but I am wondering why they don't call it art. I have seen some of the still photos on the Internet and I have to agree that a pile of naked men with hoods on their heads does not reflect well on our military. However, the mass media and several Washington law makers have run this story in the ground. For example, Media Research Center reported that NBC had 58 stories about the prison incident between April 29 and May 11 compared to only five stories in the past two years about the 300,000 bodies found in Saddam Hussein's mass graves. There is no question that all the fuss is about Democrats trying to score political points with their constant carping about how awful this was, and how important it is that George Bush be defeated for reelection. I can call it a scandal too, but let me quickly say that some of those hollering the loudest are the same people who keep pumping your money into the National Endowment of the Arts for stuff that looks just as bad as a pile of naked men. What about the naked gal posing as Jesus at the last supper? What about the Crucifix upside down in a jar of urine? What about the elephant dung exhibit depicted with Catholic nuns? That's pretty disgusting stuff subsidized at the tune of 121 million tax payer dollars to the NEA this year, and a scheduled 18 million dollar increase for next year. That, my friend, is the result of the voting by a MAJORITY of our lawmakers in the US Congress. Who really believes that a majority of the military made a decision for the actions of the Abu Ghraib prison guards? Nobody! I'm thinking you could put a pile of naked people depicted as Christians in the midst of of any kind of dung financed by a $40,000 grant by the NEA and you would have no outcry from NBC, ABC, and CBS. They would call it artist expression for the general good of society and worthy of being paid for by your tax dollars. They might even suggest that the Head Start kids in America's schools visit those places where the art(?) is displayed. The action of some U.S. military personnel is disgusting, but frankly I think the majority of our lawmakers and mass media people are more disgusting.......and that's...... .........My Biased Opinion Officially Godless May 1, 2004. T.C. Pinckney and Bruce N. Shortt are jointly submitting a proposed resolution for this summer's annual meeting of the Southern Baptist Convention that calls government schools "officially godless". This resolution, published on the web April 26th asks parents to take children out of public schools, and encourages congregations to help provide that change. My first two comments are; (1) Amen and (2) What took you so long? My April 20th commentary , "Pastor Disaster" helps explain my reaction. The resolution may not pass, but praise God for those who had the wisdom and took the time to draft this excellent document. I have read it through completely four times. This 2 1/2 page document has 20 "whereas" statements and makes reference to 12 different Scriptures, and it clearly shows the necessity to pull students from public schools. You can read the entire document on the web. While I like their "officially Godless" definition of public schools as a two-word zinger, the very last paragraph is the real nugget because it encourages churches to "provide" alternatives to public schools. I take that to mean spend some church money on it.
Let me add that I am not a Southern Baptist, nor Northern, Eastern, Western. You could say I don't have a dog in this hunt, but I can honestly say this is the most important thing I have ever heard come out of any church denomination, period! There is no substitute for the truth that comes from God's Word and those who drafted this resolution have correctly intrepreted that Word....and that's .........My Biased Opinion
