1941–2025 | A Life of Faith, Family, and Service
Dennis Rowan had a deep love for the Lord, his family, and the land he called home. Born in 1941 on the family farm in Gap Mills, West Virginia, Dennis devoted his life to learning, teaching, serving others, and sharing the love of Jesus Christ.
After earning his doctorate in animal sciences, Dennis spent 11 years as a university professor before returning to the family farm in 1982 to raise sheep. It was there that his knowledge of sheep became something much deeper. Through years of shepherding, studying Scripture, and seeking God in prayer, he developed a profound understanding of the relationship between the Good Shepherd and His sheep.
In 1985, Dennis and his wife, Glenda, founded Psalm 23 Camp, creating a place where young people could encounter God, grow in their faith, and learn to serve others. That calling eventually expanded through Servants at Work (S.A.W.), bringing thousands of volunteers together to serve families and communities in need.
Dennis's heart for service extended well beyond the mountains of West Virginia. He also led numerous international mission trips, bringing farmers and volunteers alongside missionaries to complete service projects, support local communities, and share the love of Christ through practical ministry.
